To recapture the rich heritage and industry leadership of the company, a bold new identity was created based around the brand idea: Inspiring Trust. The tone of voice is self-confident, the colour palette is bold and sophisticated and all client-facing collateral is produced with great care using quality paper and finishes. An image bank of precious heirlooms, each with their own unique heritage, are used across brand communications. Royal purple was chosen as the accent colour as it has always been an expensive hue to produce and therefore associated with Royalty and wealth through the ages.

Design and art direction for a boutique Australian wine label

Apple Tree Flat is the best selling wine range from boutique wine producer Logan Wines, located in the New South Wales wine growing district of Mudgee.

Over the course of 3 years, Logan Wines have repositioned their brand to better communicate their commitment to quality winemaking, focus on personal service and regular tasting events and their niche as a boutique cold-climate Australian wine grower. Each wine range has now been redesigned with the Apple Tree Flat range being the last of the bunch.

Apple Tree Flat is Logan's export wine and sales research showed that international buyers valued a bottle that had some interesting text of the wine region it was from. From this research came the idea of telling the story of the history of Apple Tree Flat.

Each of the five varietals in the range tells a different part of the story. Black scraperboard-style illustrations depict different scenes of life at Apple Tree Flat. A promotional brochure brings all the stories together. Produced while at War Design.

Identity and logo for The City of Sydney's What's On brand.

What's On is a service to promote the hundreds of yearly events, festivals and exhibits in and around The City of Sydney each year. It exists as a website but also communicates via print, newsletters, social media, outdoor and advertising.

The new logo is flexible, energetic and dynamic. It consists of an angled type element reversed out of a background of movable geometric shapes and textures allowing the logo to be re-invented for each new event or format. The set of shapes is also used to create layouts and hold information and pictures. The logo is dominant enough that the colour palette can be completely up to the designer - helping to keep the identity fresh and relevant to each event even when multiple events are happening simultaneously.

A dynamic and fun identity for a vibrant events brand.

Bell Potter StockbrokersIdentity and logo design for Bell Potter, Australia’s largest independent stockbroking firm.
Being independent from the large banks, Bell Potter prides itself on providing truly unbiased advice to it's customers. It is this ability to give honest, straight-talking advice that formed the strategy for the identity.

The new logotype is clear and confident. It consists of bold, uppercase letters to communicate strength and a horizontal line (and abstracted quotation bubble) to represent Bell Potter's core service of advice. Throughout the identity, the logotype is positioned underneath headlines, supporting and endorsing everything that is said.

Besides the logo, the visual identity consists of a disciplined, unique colour palette where black and white are combined with bright aqua, a refresh of the original teal colour from the previous identity. Photography is used rarely but is always candid and the new tone of voice style is straight-talking and doesn't dress bad news in good.

Clear and effective presentation of up to the minute information is vital to Bell Potter's day-to-day needs. Therefore the layout of market updates, product brochures, graphs and charts both in print and online adhere to strict underlying grids for increased legibility.

A simple and confident identity for a straight-talking company.

Built in 1936, Bromma Airport was Sweden's first international airport and currently the country's second largest. The new graphic identity pays homage to the airport's modernist roots but also adds a clean, contemporary flavour. The typography in the logotype is inspired from the original signage and the warm red taken from modernist travel posters. Further branding applications include wayfinding signage, corporate stationery and a contemporary airport magazine named 'BMA' after the airport's flight code.
